At BellePaga, quality is not a selling point. It is a requirement at every stage: in the choice of the fiber, in respect for the animal that produces it, and in the hands that shape it.

A FIBER BORN IN ONE OF THE MOST EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS IN THE WORLD

Our alpacas live freely in the Andes Mountains, at altitudes of up to 4,880 meters. Up there, temperatures fluctuate daily between -20°C and +30°C.

To survive in these conditions, alpacas have naturally developed a fleece with thermoregulating fibers, warm in the cold and breathable in the heat. It is this adaptation, shaped over thousands of years, that gives their wool properties that few other materials can offer.

Not all alpaca fibers are created equal.
We select only Baby Alpaca wool: the finest, softest, ranging between 18 and 22 microns.

SHEARING WITH RESPECT FOR THE ANIMAL

Our alpacas live in freedom, without barriers or enclosures. They are sheared once a year, between April and June, with complete respect for their well-being.

Each animal produces up to 3 kg of wool, compared with just 150 g for a cashmere goat. A generous harvest, and a much more eco-friendly one. Our supply chain is part of the Alpaca del Perú Label, guaranteeing the traceability of the fiber from the Andes.

A CRAFT PASSED DOWN, NOT BOUGHT

Once harvested and washed, the fiber is sent to small-scale Peruvian workshops. There, local artisans apply know-how passed down through generations. We work with them directly, without intermediaries, to ensure fair compensation for their work.

Every year, our team travels to Peru to meet with them, monitor quality and working conditions, and maintain a long-term relationship.

Quality and respect for the environment go hand in hand at BellePaga. We limit shipments between Peru and Belgium and favor the most environmentally friendly forms of transport.
